Common questions
How do I start a session with other people?
- Start a FaceTime call with the people you want to invite.
- Open XRShare and choose SharePlay Session.
- Everyone else accepts the SharePlay prompt that appears in the call.
Anyone who joins later automatically receives the models already in the scene.
Can I use XRShare on my own?
Yes. Choose Local Session on the home screen. It works offline, and nothing is shared.
Models appear in the wrong place, or drift
- After starting a session, move your iPhone or iPad slowly around the room for a few seconds. This gives AR tracking more of the room to work with.
- Use a well-lit room with some texture, such as furniture or posters. Blank walls and glossy floors are hard to track.
- In a SharePlay session with other iPhones, every person should scan the same area. If models are still misplaced, reset the AR scene from the app’s settings and scan again.
The other participants can’t see my model
Make sure everyone joined the same SharePlay session. For models you imported yourself, both you and the other participants need to be signed in to iCloud, and the model may take a moment to download on their devices.
How do I add my own 3D models?
Save a .usdz file to the Files app, open the model picker in XRShare, and choose to import. Imported models are stored in your iCloud account, so they appear on all your devices signed in to that account. Many 3D tools and Apple’s Reality Composer can export USDZ.
How do I stop sharing a model or delete it?
Open the Model Library in XRShare. There you can stop sharing a model, change who can view or edit it, or delete it. Deleting it also removes it from your iCloud.
Does XRShare collect my data?
No. XRShare has no accounts, analytics or tracking, and does not send anything to our servers. See the Privacy Policy for what is shared with other people in a SharePlay session.
Can I try a model without installing the app?
Yes. The home page has a live 3D viewer. On an iPhone or iPad, tap View in your room to place the model on a surface with AR Quick Look.

- The XRShare version (shown on the App Store page, or in Settings → Apps → XRShare)
- Whether you were in a Local Session or a SharePlay session, and on which devices
- What you expected to happen, what happened instead, and a screenshot or screen recording if you can
