Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the XRShare app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Vision Pro (the “app”), published by XRShare Technologies (“we”, “us”), handles information. It also covers this website, xrshare.ca.

Camera and sensors

XRShare uses your device’s camera and sensors to understand the room so it can place 3D models on real surfaces. The system asks for your permission first: camera access on iPhone and iPad, and world sensing on Apple Vision Pro.

• Camera images are processed on your device by Apple’s ARKit and RealityKit. XRShare does not record, save or upload them.
• To line up a shared scene, ARKit builds a map of the room from feature points in the camera view. During a SharePlay session, this map may be sent to the other participants so everyone sees models in the same place. A copy may be saved on your device so it can be reused later.
• On Apple Vision Pro, XRShare can track an image shown on an iPhone’s screen to line up the two devices. It uses that image’s position only, not the camera feed.

XRShare does not use your microphone, photo library, location or contacts.

SharePlay sessions

When you start or join a SharePlay session, the app exchanges messages with the other participants through Apple’s SharePlay service, so everyone sees the same scene. These messages go to the people in your session, not to us. They can include:

iCloud and your models

If you import your own USDZ models, XRShare stores them in the private iCloud database of your Apple Account, using Apple’s CloudKit. Only you can see this storage, and it counts toward your iCloud storage. We cannot see or open it. XRShare stores the model file, its file name, when you added it, and your sharing settings.

• Sharing from the Model Library. You choose who to invite and whether they can view or edit. Apple shows you the names or contact details of people who accept, and shows them yours.
• Adding your model during a SharePlay session. XRShare creates an iCloud share link and sends it to the participants so they can load the model. The link is removed when you leave or end the session. If you had already shared the model from the Model Library, that sharing stays as you set it.
• If you are not signed in to iCloud, you can still use the built-in models. You cannot import or share your own.

Stored on your device

The app keeps some information on your device so it works as expected: your appearance setting, your display name, the models currently placed in your scene, cached model files and thumbnails, and saved room maps. This information stays on your device. The app also writes diagnostic logs using Apple’s standard logging system. Those logs stay on the device unless you choose to share them, for example with Apple or with us when reporting a problem.

What we don’t do

• We do not require or offer an account, and we never ask for your email, phone number or password.
• We do not use analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking tools, and the app contains no third-party code libraries.
• We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not send your data to artificial-intelligence services.

If you choose to share them, Apple may provide us with anonymous app-usage and crash statistics through App Store Connect. These are covered by Apple’s privacy policy and do not identify you.

This website

xrshare.ca is a static website hosted on GitHub Pages. It uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. GitHub may log visitors’ IP addresses for security, as described in GitHub’s privacy statement. Its fonts and 3D viewer are served from xrshare.ca itself, so visiting the site makes no requests to other companies.

Your choices and deleting data

• Permissions. You can turn off camera or world-sensing access at any time in the Settings app. The app needs this access to place models in AR.
• Your models. You can delete a model you imported, or stop sharing it, from the Model Library in the app. You can also remove all of the app’s iCloud data in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
• Everything else. Deleting the app removes all the data it stored on your device.
• SharePlay. You can leave a session at any time. Other participants may keep copies of models you shared until you stop sharing them.

Because we hold no personal information about you, we usually have nothing to access, correct or delete. You can still contact us about your rights under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) or the laws where you live, and we will help.

Children

XRShare is rated 4+ and is suitable for classroom use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Parents and teachers should know that SharePlay sessions share names and notes with the other participants, as described above.

Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling information differently, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change ships.
